COMMUNITY EVENT

When tragedy struck the Lapu-Lapu Festival community in Vancouver, it sent shockwaves through Filipino Canadian hearts across the country. In response, FilCanPreneur, in collaboration with our community partners—Philippine Legacy And Cultural Alliance (PLACA), Fun Philippines Toronto Food & Music Festival, Adhika, Combat Science, Feed Scarborough, and Matrix Cares—came together with a shared purpose: to help.

What began as individual concern quickly transformed into collective action. We are proud to announce our fundraiser—a symbol of bayanihan, the Filipino spirit of community and solidarity. Our goal is to raise funds to support the victims and families affected.

Your donation to Adhika, a registered Canadian charity, will play a crucial role in delivering urgent aid, trauma counseling, and essential services to the Lapu-Lapu community. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more. Since 1985, Adhika has empowered Filipino communities in Canada and the Philippines, helping individuals build self-directed lives. After the fundraiser ends on May 25, the money raised will be donated to United Way BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund. This fund supports the long-term recovery and well-being of Vancouver’s Filipino community. This 3km walk/run is more than a fundraiser—it’s a meaningful show of solidarity, respect, and support for those affected by the Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy.
