Fun Philippines is an event open to the public that celebrates Filipino culture through food, entertainment, and massive gatherings. The name comes from a Philippine tourism campaign, which shows that Filipinos are naturally happy, optimistic, strong, and able to find joy amidst adversity.

Fun Philippines aims to spread cultural education through fun programs and installations. There will be  fun and exciting activities at the event that will engage attendees and keep them entertained throughout the festival. The event will feature more than just food stands. This event benefits the community, Ontario as a whole, and the country's efforts to revitalize its economy.

We partner with the community to provide a venue for everyone to showcase their talents, products, and services, as well as assist local businesses in overcoming the challenges they faced in previous years due to social constraints. Visitors have the opportunity to get out once again and reconnect with family and friends. We invite you to join us for this special event and make the most of your weekend by learning about different foods and cultural traditions.

INITIATIVES

PLACA has launched projects such as the Government of Ontario-funded and highly successful virtual event All For One (AFO) in 2020 and 2021. In partnership with TFC (The Filipino Channel), AFO was a response to the government’s call for activities that supported communities amidst the pandemic lockdowns.

In 2021, PLACA also launched the documentary series that highlighted successful Filipinos in Ontario, Making It In Canada. In partnership with TFC (The Filipino Channel), it reached a customer base of 2.5 million worldwide and ran until Q1 of 2022. This was part of the Filipinos Making Waves digital event series that was funded by the Government of Ontario and featured a cooking show, online radio featuring Filipino music through the years, a drama anthology podcast and a talk show meant for the community to reconnect and be entertained.

PLACA also spearheaded a barrier-free pop-up vaccine clinic for anyone with no OHIP or health cards to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and helped support the government’s efforts toward a safer and healthier community.
